Changing Seasons
Summer is certainly drawing to close here in the UK, the nights are drawing in & changing seasons begins.
It’s fair to say summer 2018 has been one to remember, we’ve had the best weather I can remember for years & made memories to last a lifetime.
After a summer of enjoying life without a care in the world, not particularly focussing on anything, allowing myself to wander and go wherever takes my fancy has allowed me to think freely and unearth what I really want to do.
In not having an immediate goal to work towards, I feel like I’ve found my long term plan; my Everest.
I cycle not only for fitness and the well-being that comes with it, but also as it’s a brilliant way to explore everything. The hours I’ve spent whizzing round the North West of England were really just an excuse to marvel at the beauty of the place I call home; admiring views, mountains & landscapes that wouldn’t have been accessible to me unless I was on the bike.
The feeling of a lung-busting, leg shattering, gruelling ascent & earning that sheer speed on a spectacular, winding, descent is just epic – but I couldn’t care less about strava records, average speed, or PB’s over a specific split.
Just give me a bike & a helmet, in a stunning location & I’ll be off – that’s a simple as cycling needs to be!
Changing seasons into my favourite season, autumn, means cycling & adventuring with even more spectacular backdrops!
I’ve been in a bit of lost head space these last few weeks, doing a lot of thinking about what I want from my life – making sure I’m doing the right things now, that’ll set me up for the next few years, so that when I look back years down the line, I’ll look back and feel fulfilled. I’ll have completed what I want & seen the things I want to in life.
The whole purpose of my blog was to inspire others – recently, I’ve been trying to find my own inspiration to figure out what I truly want.
Getting outside isn’t just about adventure for me, it’s about wellbeing. I’ve recently spent a lot of time reading & just generally being outside. Not necessarily adventuring, just taking ‘me time’.
On reflection, I’m always busy doing something. Sitting down and chilling out for too long frustrates me – I need that feeling of productivity; like I’m working towards an end goal. But to do that, you need an end goal.
The bit I’ve been missing recently is that life goal, or Everest as most call it. Do you have an Everest?
For me, my Everest is around my life ambitions, my challenge goals and travel goals. Sussing these out has been such an enlightening step – I know what I want from my life & I’m on a journey to accomplishing it. #OneLifeLiveIt
Looking back, it’s been a cool and chilled out summer nonetheless. But the changing seasons makes us look forward to autumn; I cannot wait! Crisp & frosty mornings, crimson leaves falling to the floor, the temperatures become cooler & beautiful golden colours appear. I can’t think of a better season – It’s simply magical!
Yet shorter days, with spectacular sunsets still provides ample opportunity for adventure – it’s just knowing where to look for it & finding the motivation on those darker colder mornings.
This last weekend in the Lake District, changing seasons really has started to set in – the overcast, wet weather, with cooler temperatures drawing a spellbinding mist over the high fells. It really is still as spectacular – just requires the right gear!
My first autumn adventure is taking me down to Wales. With my first stop in Snowdonia, to tick off some hiking routes and new mountains. Hopefully along with some exhilarating welsh mountain biking too!
